No, it’s not really the end of the world! Although many have said it’s the end of the world as we know it. Looking at the world around us I think we all quickly realised just how fragile and precious life is. We take many things for granted. Where we are in South Africa the majority of the country came to a grinding halt. Most businesses closed (some permanently), schools closed, chaos erupted in some places. What is normally a fairly busy place to live in turned into eery peace and quiet virtually overnight.
We faced the same truths and challenges as everyone else. We had to make some tough decisions between what we always considered important, and what was really important. Family life took many difficult twists and turns as we tried to cope with extended time in each other’s company. Days seemed to flow from the one into the next and we were often left wondering which day of the week it was.
The only real bit of structure in my life was having a full time job that was no less demanding than before this crazy virus outbreak disrupted the world. I still had to get up in the morning and get dressed and be ready for an influx of emails or conference calls or whatever surprises the day had in store. This is pretty normal for IT professionals. Life goes on, even with Corona scares.
While there is no end in sight, we do have some relaxed lockdown rules coming in soon and this would mean that we could start trading again. We fortunately used some of the time we were unable to trade to our advantage and we managed to get some work done on the website and we managed to secure a whole lot of designs for our printable items. I will be sharing some more of these details soon.
